Different Prayers for Memorial Day

I noted changes in the recommended liturgical prayers for Memorial Day in both Lutheran and Catholic parishes this year. Veterans were remembered in all countries and not just the United States.


The traditional churches are confronting an increase in American nationalism which claims the United States is more Christian than other countries are. The churches want to recognize those who serve all countries in their militaries and not just the United States. The subtle changes in public prayers are significant.
