ELCA Church Wide Phone Call on Immigration

I participated today in a quarterly phone call across the country which focused on the inhumane treatment being experienced by families and children at federal detention facilities, several along the Mexican border in Texas. We were reminded conditions are as bad as we are reminded almost daily in the media and nearly all of the blame was placed on the policies of the current presidential administration in Washington. The inability or unwillingness of Congress to exercise leadership on this issue was also discussed.

As I mentioned after worship last Sunday, this issue continues to get messier and I think it will not be resolved anytime soon. Though I announced I am not able to take a regular day off when I am in the valley, I am trying to take care of myself.
