News as a Product

CBS has made major changes in its news programs because ratings were bad, not because the news was inaccurate.

A major challenge for Americans today is to get accurate news. The drive for profits encourages networks to report what people want to hear to stay tuned to the network. Objective reporting has become a casualty.

One of the major problems I encounter with my immigration work is the amount of misinformation many refuse to give up. Opinions are given more credence than facts.
