Today is the anniversary of my baptism at Park Place Lutheran Church (since closed) in Houston. About fifteen years ago I visited the older chapel where the sacrament took place at the second service that day by Pr. David Herman.

Clergy need to know the details of their baptism when they apply to a seminary to train to be a pastor.

In my last congregation, I suggested we recognize all baptisms in a month on the first Sunday of the month. My idea was a flop. Most had no idea when they had been baptized. Instead that congregation now recognizes birthdays each Sunday. Someone suggested recently we do the same in Edinburg.

Do you know the date of your baptism? I encourage parents and sponsors to make sure youth learn this date.
