Trustworthy Servants Gets a Restart

Several weeks ago I posted about the decision of the ELCA Church Council not to recommend adoption of Trustworthy Servants, a proposed successor document to Vision and Expectations. The older document had caused great harm to the LGBTQIA community and others by being used as a judicial document instead of as an aspirational document which was the original intent.

The revision process is starting over. I and others have been asked to describe what the church needs now. Based on the stated needs of the church, a new document will be proposed.

Racial minorities, the LGBTQIA community, women, and others have been harmed by the church in ways that white male heterosexuals like me do not experience. I am happy the ELCA is trying to get it right this time around.
