Two Iftars Last Week

Muslims invited me to two meals breaking their daily fasts while I was in San Antonio last week. One was an opportunity to learn about Ramadan and the other was a chance for Muslims to dialogue with Central Americans who also have not been warmly received by some in the American government.


The ELCA is pro-immigrant and these celebrations gave me a chance to show support from our denomination.


Has First Lutheran ever had a joint celebration with Muslims in the valley? The ELCA video being shown at our synod assembly this yearhas a portion on such celebrations.


I was honored at my "retirement" in San Antonio to have a local imam be the first to speak at my celebration.
