Waiting for a Funeral to Move Forward
I have had several conversations about a congregation in South Texas which is waiting for a crucial funeral before the congregation can move forward. Apparently, this congregation has allowed one member to call all of the shots, though the member is not on the congregation council. This member opposes nearly all proposed changes to help the congregation grow and others have tired of trying to oppose this member.
Congregations need to diversify their leadership and not allow one person or family make all of the decisions. One of my goals at First Lutheran is to diversify the leadership base of the congregation.
