Why I Am Not Attending the Meeting with Pastor Spindt

Despite the requests of several council members, I will not be attending next Monday's meeting. Transitional pastors are to stay out of the call process for a new pastor.


Meeting without a pastor present is helpful for the synod staff person working the call process. Leadership style conflicts are a common problem in parish life and it is helpful for the bishop's associate to get an accurate idea whether this is a council which runs the church or a council which tries to run the pastor.


Pr. Spindt may also want to get a reference on me in case the bishop ever wants to use my gifts again in a similar capacity somewhere else.
